Story of Porali
Ilankumaran and Nallavan come to Chennai from their native village. They find their friend Pulikutty and stay with him. They work in a petrol bunk and start a side business. The friends are successful at their jobs and business.

Nallavan tries to get along with any woman he comes along and Ilankumaran hates every woman he comes along. However, both of them fall in love with different women at some point of time. In the mean while, the home owner who was asking the bachelors to vacate the home, agrees to get his daughter married to Ilankumaran. However, the truth about Ilankumaran is revealed when a suspenseful group enters the home unannounced. The movie goes on unveiling the news and the truth in the news.
Sasi Kumar is Ilankumaran and Naresh is Nallavan. Bharathi (Swathi) feels insecure all the time and she develops unnecessary imagination because of that. Tamil Selvi (Vasundara) also suffers from the same problem, but she uses her imagination to threaten others. The director beautifully differentiates the mental attitude of both the women.
In the first half of the movie, the director has paid a lot of attention to shows us the typical setup of households in the outer region of Chennai. After interval, the director completely relies on the flashback to take the movie forward. As a result, the second half of the movie is very similar to the tried and tested flashbacks we see in other movies.
Ganja Karuppu is Pulikutty in the movie and all the characters share a beautiful sense of humor in the first half of the movie.
Music can be seen as a continuation of ‘Nadodigal’.
The combination of Sasi Kumar – Samuthira Kani leads to a lot of expectations and both of them have delivered almost.

Behind The Screen - Porali
|
The Sri Lankan government censored a lot of portions of ‘7 Am Arivu’. During that time, Sasi Kumar publicly announced that his movie will not be screened in Sri Lanka.
A lot of speculation was doing rounds following the movie’s title ‘Porali’ and Sasi Kumar’s announcement. However, there is just a single dialogue in the movie that can irk the Sri Lankan government. |
