Rettaisuzhi, staring ace directors K. Balachandar and Bharathirajaa has finally released. The movie is shot by director Thamira, a debutant director who was working with director Balachander as his assistant. The highlight of the movie is its interesting cast. K. Balachandar, plays Ramasamy and Bharathirajaa plays Singaravelan. The two are childhood friends who have grown up and still retain the childishness in them. Apart from these two people, Anjali (of Angadi Theru fame), Karunas and Manobala chip in with roles in the movie.
Ramaswamy (K.Balachander) is a congressmen politician where as Singaravelan (Bharathiraja) is an orthodox communist. These men live in the opposite houses and have a 40 year rivalry. Same way the grand children of both houses have rivalry.
The first half of the movie moves showing this. Karunas comes as "POLICE MAMA" who one side uses to threaten the other. This is when the other group decides to call their "MILITARY MAMA" (Aari) with guns, tanks and men. So they write a letter and soon the hero lands with forces. He is actually there for a rural camp. Aari finally meets his love interest "TEACHER" (Anjali of Angaadi theru fame). These children join together to success the love of these two and get them married with the two rival's acceptance.
The legends have rocked the screen especially Bharadhiraja has just proved he is a born actor. Even though Balachandar had very less screen time he had made the impact in short span. Jayachithra has made a comeback as K.B's wife.
The children have acted so well and take on a laugh riot! Anjali has once again proved she is not like any other heroine in kollywood who "act". The hero could have acted a little better. Directors Mano bala and Ilavarasu has played their roll perfect. Karunas has made us laugh coming as "comedy police" (that's how the children call him).
Karthik Raja has given some real good melodies and has proved he is the son of maestro. Tamira has made the movie enjoyable and entertaining
Revealing more would spoil the charm of watching the movie, so go ahead and take the time out to watch this pleasant movie, with well-etched characters. The chemistry between KB and Bharathirajaa is the best part of this movie and it doesn't disappoint one bit. One can't help but admire the scenes where the two veterans live their characters on screen.
Overall, this is not a bad movie to watch. The director scores with his neat casting and subtle emotions, depicted dramatically.

Tamira worked with Balachander as his assistant and was writing dialogues for his serials. Tamira approached Shankar and explained the storyline. Shankar was not so convinced. The next day Thamira carried a painting that showed both these legend directors playing. This not only convinced Shankar, but also the two directors who were to appear on the screen.
The 'Pattallam Paruda' song carries lyrics of more than hundred Tamil honorifics. Initially Karthik Raja decided to tune the lyrics but later asked the lyricist Ramasamy to rewrite the lyrics according to his tune. This motivated the lyricist to write more than 40 stanzas.
The small boy seen amidst children in the movie is Karunas's second son.
