The movie has a heavy subject. Director Vasanta Balan has given us this thought provoking movie.
The story revolves around Mahesh who is very poor and comes to Chennai to work in a big garments shop from his village after his father's death in order to support his family. He faces ill treatments. He falls in love with Anjali and loses his job. Anjali and Mahesh suffer together and find ways to run their life.
Director has brought out the roles very well. The small vendors and the atmosphere in which the movie has rolled around is very natural. We salute the director for bringing out the sufferings of the villagers who come to this city for work.
The actor has performed well in his debut movie. The actor has actually suffered in his real life and this makes him perform the role well. His body language is appreciable. There was huge round of applause when the hero thrashes the supervisor of the shop for physically abusing his lover.
The actress has also performed her role very well. She faces difficulties within and outside her family and she falls in love with the hero. Her performance is appreciable when she is physically abused and when she falls in love with the her after having had fights with him.
The role of a prostitute who gets married to a physically challenged person and delivers a physically handicapped baby says that she is happy that the baby is a proof and identification of its father.
The hero's sister who identifies a small bag of the shop in which her brother works in Chennai stole our hearts. The director also deserves applause when he has shown the way poor servant girls are treated in rich houses.
The heroine loses two legs and decides to part from the hero. But the hero says that he has decided to marry her immediately. This makes the audience emotional.
Though the entire movie revolves around a very small street as its location, the director has shown us his intelligence in handling the script.
Vijay Antony's music makes up tap our legs and the lyrics are decently good with a special not to the 'Aval appadi' song by Muthukumar. Richard's recording skills have also added value.
All the best Angadi Theru!

Anjali has acted and given her own voice for the movie.
Director Vasanthbalan had been for his dinner to a street near Ranganathan street during his shooting of a different movie and he witnessed young workers dressed up dirty and fully tired. This kindled him to bring out this touching movie.
