 I am never promising you guys that this will be something new! The same old college, campus, fresh love and a new painting on an old, ragged wall, but still the same old looks with a new fragrance around!
First year student Balaji, falling in love with a third year girl Meghna Sundar.. and if you are wondering if it’s a remake of Vallavan or something else… nah!! That’s something to do with Sachin and his story.
As with all such love stories, he proposes and the shocked girl refuses, but he still lingers on. Trailing behind her more than her shadows, the audience and hero face the most-wanted climax, which is ultimately the essence of the same old story.
Boopathipandian has played it safe and sound, with a mix of curiosity, anxiety and eagerness that is delivered to he audience throughout the movie. Despite the rest of the mix and love masala, the choice of the actors had a great deal to play with!
‘Kana Kaanum Kalangal’ – fame Balaji has batted a remarkable century in his debut. Action, comedy, sentiment, and romance seem to flow through this guy! The loveliest part of the movie would be, the little puppy he takes care of just because the heroine loves it and finally the way he stones it when he realizes that she doesn’t love him is comical indeed.
Another instance would be the locking up of the Punjabi guy in a room when he promises to express her love for him and a couple of other comical nuances add to the gala of the movie as a whole! Completely packed with fun and laughter throughout, the movie heads towards a little tragic part later on.. curiosity filled audience wonder about the transition from a hilarious note to a little sadness, and Meghna Sundar is sure to grab away Nayan’s position if she is ready to uphold such an attitude thereafter!
Touching and tear-filled would be the instances when the hero’s father sheds tears along with a soliloquy from his end. Apprehending to all these would be Yuvan’s music score and Rana’s cinematography.
Whatever could be the highlighting aspect of the movie, the entire effect was shattered away by the hero’s death in the climax.

Boopathi Pandian’s romantic attempt next to Devadhaiyai Kanden and Thiruvilayadal Aarambam.
Initially baptized as ‘Naanum enadhu Sandhiyavum’, the movie took up a new name because of the similarity with many existing and to-come movies. Balaji, the hero is the adopted son of TN minister Parithi Elam Vazudhi.
The minister’s son and Balaji were close friends and an unfortunate incident separated Parithi’s son from him forever. So, the adopted son Balaji is all ready for his new ventures as a hero.
Balaji earned much fame earlier through his soap ‘Kana Kaanum Kalangal’. Meghna’s mom was the co-actor in “Vaidhegi Kathirundhaal’, the lady who accompanies Vijaykanth most of the time.
Meghna has also featured up as a child artist in many films. Seems Bana Kathadi has a similar climax to that of “Kaadhal Solla Vanthen’.
