Kollywood was surprised by the sudden announcement of ‘Kari Kaalan’ movie. Mani Ratnam really sculpted Kalki’s story with the strong writing skills of Jeya Mohan, but even he couldn’t continue the work on one of the greatest stories of Tamil Nadu. So, people have started wondering whether this venture will be possible.

However, our reliable sources say that Mani Ratnam is the reason behind ‘Kari Kaalan’. Cheeyan was having high hopes that the director will definitely give him a chance. Mani Ratnam dropped Cheeyan’s name in the last minute. Cheeyan’s big dream is to act as a King and he is determined to play that role. So, he started discussing the possibilities of playing the role of another Chola king and that is how ‘Kari Kaalan’ was started.

Raja Rajan’s story has a lot of historical backup as history expert Neelakanda Sasthri has written a fat book about the King and Kalki has given a story format for the king. However, there is no strong backup for Kari Kaalan who was also a very famous Chola king. No assistant director is going to read Pattina Paalai and Poruanarattru Padai to learn about Kari Kaalan.
